Getting started

What is Mayra?

Mayra is a Shopify app that lets your customers edit their own orders after checkout — change quantities, swap variants, update the shipping address, add or remove items, and cancel — all inside their Shopify account, within rules you control. Mayra settles any extra charge or refund through Shopify automatically, offers post-purchase upsells, and can offer store credit to keep a sale when a customer tries to cancel.

How do I install and set up Mayra?

Install Mayra from Shopify, then open Mayra > Settings and (1) turn on editing and choose your edit window, (2) choose which actions customers can take, (3) set your refund handling, and (4) add the Mayra block to your Order status page in Shopify admin under Settings > Checkout > Customize > Order status > Add block > Mayra. The Home page shows a getting-started checklist that tracks these steps. Mayra is free while in early access.

Does Mayra work with my theme?

Yes. Mayra runs on Shopify's new customer accounts and the Order status page, so it does not depend on your theme's code. You add the Mayra block where you want it to appear and it inherits your storefront branding.

How much does Mayra cost?

Mayra is free while in early access. Mayra will give notice before introducing paid plans, and any charge would need your approval in Shopify first.

Order editing

What can customers change on their order?

With Mayra, customers can change the shipping address, increase or decrease quantities, remove items, swap a variant (same product or any product), add an item, and cancel the order. You enable each of these individually in Settings > Allowed customer actions, so customers only ever see what you allow.

How long can a customer edit an order?

You set the edit window in Mayra: 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1, 2, 6, 12, or 24 hours, or "Until it ships." Customers can only edit orders that are still eligible — orders that are fulfilled, cancelled, or archived cannot be edited.

Can I limit which orders are eligible for self-editing?

Yes. Mayra's restrictions let you keep high-risk orders out of self-serve editing: set a maximum order value, block specific product tags or collections, block certain customer tags, and block specific shipping countries.

Does Mayra hold fulfillment during an edit?

Yes. While a customer is editing an eligible order, Mayra holds fulfillment so the order cannot ship mid-change. The hold is released as soon as the edit completes or is abandoned.

Refunds & payments

What happens to refunds when an edit lowers the total?

When an edit lowers the order total, Mayra issues the refund through Shopify. You decide whether refunds process automatically every time, or whether refunds above a threshold you set are queued for your approval first.

How are extra charges handled when an edit raises the total?

When an edit increases the order total, Shopify sends the customer a separate invoice to pay the balance before the edit completes. Mayra never handles card details — all payment processing stays with Shopify Checkout.

Can I approve large refunds before they process?

Yes. With Mayra's "Queue larger refunds for approval" setting, refunds at or below your threshold process automatically while larger ones are held in Approvals for your sign-off. Until you approve, nothing changes on the order and no refund is owed.

Cancellations & upsells

Can Mayra reduce cancellations?

Yes. When a customer tries to cancel, Mayra's cancellation deflection can offer store credit — a bonus percentage of the order value — to keep the order. You set the bonus size, a monthly budget cap, and a store-credit expiry. Accepting the offer keeps the order and locks it from further edits.

Does Mayra offer post-purchase upsells?

Yes. Mayra can recommend relevant products in three places: while the customer is editing, on the order status page, and after a committed edit. You choose the product source and limits, and accepted upsells settle automatically with the order.

Data & privacy

Is my data safe with Mayra?

Mayra requests only the Shopify scopes needed to read and edit orders, transmits data over encrypted connections, and encrypts Shopify access tokens at rest using AES-256-GCM. Mayra never sells personal data. As a new app it makes no third-party certification claims — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what is processed.

What customer data does Mayra process?

Mayra processes order information and the customer's name, email address, and shipping address — used to verify that a customer owns the order they are editing and to apply changes such as address updates. Mayra does not collect customer phone numbers and does not store payment card details, which are handled entirely by Shopify Checkout.
